(ICADC) INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED ALCOHOL AND DRUG COUNSELLOR
REQUIREMENTS
This certification is reciprocal with other IC&RC member boards.
Work Experience
The applicant must have the equivalent of 3 years full-time work experience (6000 hours) within the past 5 years, providing direct, supervised counselling services to persons with the primary diagnosis of alcoholism and/or drug addiction.
Education
The applicant must have 270 documented hours of education in the knowledge and skill areas.
SUPERVISED CLINICAL TRAINING
The applicant must have 300 hours of documented supervised clinical training with a minimum of 10 hours of supervision in each of the Twelve Core Function areas.
PROCEDURES
Having met the basic requirements the candidate will:
1. Submit a Portfolio Application that outlines work experience, education, supervised clinical training, written case presentation, a signed Canon of Ethics and the applicable administrative fee;
2. Pass a written examination based on the Twelve Core Functions that has been approved by the IC&RC.
RE-CERTIFICATION
The I.C.A.D.C. must be re-certified every 2 years by submitting proof of 40 CACCF approved continuing education hours. Of these 40 hours, 28 hours must be core addiction specific training.
(ICCS) INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
REQUIREMENTS
Must be an I.C.A.D.C. This certification is reciprocal with other IC&RC member boards.
Work Experience
The applicant must have 5 years (10,000 hours) of counselling experience as an alcohol and drug counsellor. The clinical work experience required is the equivalent of 2 years (4,000 hours) of documented clinical supervisory experience and must include the provision of 200 contact hours of face-to-face clinical supervision. These 4,000 hours may be included in the 10,000 hours of counselling experience required. Candidates have up to 4 years to complete this requirement.
Education
The applicant must have 30 documented hours of education in clinical supervision. This must be in the performance domains for any or all of the following: Assessment and Evaluation, Counsellor Development, Professional Responsibility, and Management/Administration.

(CCS) CERTIFIED CLINICAL SUPERVISOR NON-RECIPROCAL
REQUIREMENTS
You are not required to be certified at the ICADC level to be a Certified Clinical Supervisor. This certification is not reciprocal with other IC&RC member boards.
Work Experience
The applicant must have, within the past seven years, a combination of counselling and clinical supervision experience totaling 5 years (10,000 hours), with no less than 2 years (4,000 hours) of clinical supervision experience.
Education
The applicant must have 30 documented hours of education in clinical supervision. This must be in the performance domains for any or all of the following: Assessment and Evaluation, Counsellor Development, Professional Responsibility, and Management/Administration.

(ICPS) INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIED PREVENTION SPECIALIST
REQUIREMENTS
This certification is reciprocal with other IC&RC member boards.
Work Experience
The applicant must have 2,000 hours full or part-time experience providing Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) prevention services.
Education
The applicant must have 120 documented hours of education in ATOD prevention within the areas defined by the IC&RC Prevention Performance Domains. A listing of the domains is contained in the I.C.P.S. standards manual. A minimum of 50 hours must be specific to ATOD prevention knowledge and skills. A minimum of 45 hours must be specific to multi-cultural and/or specific populations awareness. Applicants must also complete six hours of ethics training.
SUPERVISED CLINICAL TRAINING
The applicant must have 120 hours of direct supervision performing ATOD prevention functions related to the IC&RC Prevention Performance Domains. A minimum of 10 hours of supervision much be in each domain.

1. Submit a Portfolio Application that outlines work experience, education, supervised clinical training, a written prevention program model, a signed Canon of Ethics and the applicable administrative fee;
2. Pass a written examination that has been approved by the IC&RC.

The applicant must have the equivalent of 1year 2,000 hours full or part-time experience counseling clients with alcohol or other drug addictions. The experience must be in the IC&RC/AODA Performance Domains and the Twelve Core Counselling Functions. The experience may be as a paid or volunteer employee.
